On June 28, 2025, the extension of Nanchang Metro Line 1 officially opened for initial operation! This important extension line carrying the city's north-south traffic artery brings a more convenient travel experience to citizens. PProject Background: Urban Development Calls for Smart Transportation

The North Extension of Nanchang Metro Line 1 spans 16.969 kilometers and includes 8 stations, while the East Extension stretches 4.36 kilometers with 2 stations. Once operational, these extensions will significantly ease traffic pressure in the main urban area. In response to the high daily passenger volume connecting to Changbei Airport in the north, Nanchang Metro has set stringent requirements for the stability, response speed, and data security of the AFC (Automatic Fare Collection) system. Leveraging its extensive experience in the rail transit sector, JHCTECH collaborated closely with the system integrator to provide a customized high-performance hardware solution for the AFC system.

JHCTECH Solution: Core Advantages of the SIGM-2661

The JHCTECH AFC-dedicated controller, SIGM-2661, is designed to meet the unified controller requirements for station equipment in AFC systems. In this project, it serves as the controller for four types of AFC station terminal devices: Automatic Gate Machine (AGM), Ticket Vending Machine (TVM), Booking Office Machine (BOM) and Smart Customer Service (STT).

The JHCTECH SIGM-2661 fanless box PC is a deeply customized solution designed specifically for rail transit Automatic Fare Collection (AFC) systems. It is fully compatible with all AFC system components and has been performance-optimized to meet the demanding requirements of automated ticketing and fare validation operations. Tailored for the unique needs of AFC applications, the SIGM-2661 features professional-grade I/O configurations, offering flexible multi-display options with 2VGA + 1LVDS or 3VGA, and supports triple independent display. It is equipped with 14 COM ports (2RS232/422/485 + 12RS232), 2 LAN ports (1RJ45 + 1*M12), and 6 USB ports—satisfying complex requirements for ticket processing, payment verification, and data communication across AFC systems. Taking the Automatic Gate Machine (AGM) and Ticket Vending Machine (TVM) as examples:

The SIGM-2661 is designed with a wide-range DC 9~36V power input, seamlessly integrating with the AFC station terminal’s built-in power supply for intelligent remote power management. Its compact form factor and single-side I/O layout optimize installation space and simplify on-site wiring. The system adopts an innovative 1+1 dual storage architecture to ensure secure and reliable transaction data handling. Built with an industrial-grade fanless thermal solution, it supports a wide operating temperature range of -20°C to 70°C and storage range of -40°C to 85°C. Certified for dustproofing, moisture resistance, and electromagnetic interference protection, the SIGM-2661 delivers stable 24/7 operation even in high-traffic, multi-device station environments—providing robust and reliable support for the Nanchang Metro Line 1 extensions.

In addition, JHCTECH has introduced the SIGM-3255 AFC system controller, built on the Intel® Tiger Lake U SoC platform. While maintaining the same form factor as the SIGM-2661, it offers enhanced CPU performance to better meet user demands.
